Happy Waffle and Pancake Day!

Happy Waffle and Pancake Day!
Attention all people who love breakfast. I read on someone else’s blog that March25th may actually host TWO crazy breakfast food holidays. That’s right! Two delicious favorites celebrated on one remarkable day!

On March 25, 1882 a New York City department store gave a pancake making demonstration which was the first official U.S. pancake making day on record. It is also celebrated in other countries this time of year. Pancake Day is a favorite of children in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. Why do they like Pancake Day? Maybe because they get to eat as many pancakes as they want – all smothered with syrup, or lemon and sugar, or strawberry sauce.

Are you more of a waffle person? You're in luck! National Waffle Day is a holiday that originated in Sweden. It is called "Våffeldagen" in Swedish and it is also celebrated on March 25. In Sweden, Waffle Day welcomes the beginning of spring. What better way to celebrate the season than eating waffles topped with jam or whipped cream? Yum!

In case you were wondering, Maple Syrup Saturday is celebrated on the 3rd Saturday in March (but that’s another story).

In honor of Pancake/Waffle Day… If you could have anything for breakfast today,
what would you choose?
